hi, my NAME IS MICHAEL DUNBAR.
I AM A PROUD PRODUCT OF ASCENSION PARISH. MY SCHOOLING STARTED @ CARVER PRIMARY SCHOOL FROM K-4TH GRADE, THEN Dutchtown Middle School FROM 5TH-8TH WHERE I WAS IN THE BETA CLUB, student council, PEER MEDIATORS & ALSO PLAYED FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, & RAN TRACK.
WITH CONSTRUCTION OF Dutchtown High School BEginning IN 2000, I SPENT MY 9TH & 10 GRADE YEARS @ East Ascension High School. i was honored to be on the board that named the school griffins and chose the school colors. UPON COMPLETION, I RETURNED TO DTHS WHERE I WOULD GRADUATE IN 2004. DURING MY STAY @ DTHS I WOULD LAY THE GROUND WORK FOR MY CURRENT BUSINESS WHERE I PRINTED THE SCHOOL SPIRIT SHIRTS AS WELL AS SHIRTS FOR THE BASKETBALL TEAm, BUS DRIVERS etc.
I WOULD LATER RESUME MY SPORTING CAREER & PLAYED SEMI- PRO FOOTBALL for the baton rouge bandits & ascension bulldogs FROM 2007-2012.
After my brief sporting career,
I started assisting little league football teams such as the eastside raiders, duchtown mighty griffins, & later the eastbank spartans where i was the b-team head coach. with all the relationships built w/ both players and parents, i would follow my student athletes to middle school.
my middle school coaching career began @ Central Middle School in 2016 where i was an assistant coach. I was the strength & conditioning coach & was in the weight room cycling players in daily.
in 2018 i became the 7th grade head coach & took an understaffed & undersized team to a 7-2 record w/ one lose of "0-2" to prairieville middle school after a courageous goalline stand that resulted in a turnover on down on the 2 yard line. unfourtatley, a high snap on first down out the back of the endzone gave us our first lost.
we finished with a better record than our 8th grade counter part & that scrappy 7th grade class would evolved into 6-1 parish champs where our only lost came to st. amant middle in my absence due to out of town business.
after winning 3 parish football championships in 4 years
back to back in 2016 & 2017 & again in 2019 @ central middle school,
#CoachMike Returned to his middle School alma mater
on October 18th 2019 after clinching cms 3rd champions
vs. dms "8-0" october 17, 2019 w/ only one game remaining in the season vs. lake middle school.
this was triggered after the "8-0" game vs dms on the 50 yard line w/ a conversation w/ current principal mr. walker. he simply asked me to "come home" to better the youth in the area in which i live. & i did!

I would began coaching @ dms the following week as we played our final game vs. Gonzales Middle School. we would lose a touGh game that slipped away in the 4th quarter @ home ending the 2019 season w/ a 3-4 record.
I immediately began coachING boys & girls basketball & started making my impact teaching "6th grade reform" during pe classes were he started molding student athletes for their upcoming seasons which would pan out wonderfully.
#coachmike also coached track & field in 2020 athletic season until covid-19 haulted the school year march 13, 2020.
WITH SO MUCH UNCERTAINTY AROUND THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL,
#COACHMIKE STEPPED AWAY FROM THE CLASSROOM &
FOCUS HIS EFFORT & ENERGY SOLELY ON THE FOOTBALL TEAM.
DUTCHTOWN MIDDLE WENT FROM 3-4 IN 2019 TO 5-1 CHAMPIONS.
#coachmike HAS REMAINED VERY ACTIVE IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
HE WAS APPOINTED VP OF OPERATIONS OVER @TAMKPROOF NON
PROFIT ORGANIZATION. @TANKPROOF MISSION IS TO EQUIP THE YOUTH WITH THE LIFE SKILL OF SWIMMING BUT OUR MISSION STATEMENT HAS SHIFTED WITH THE CURRENT PANDEMIC.
ACTIVE AS OF MARCH 17,2020 @TANKPPROOF STARTED A FOOD
DELIVERY SERVICE TO BRING MEALS TO CHILDREN IN "18 LOW INCOME
AREAS" IN ASCENSION PARISH FROM VALMON RODDY RD. TO POOKIE LANE. COoRDINATING W/ GUIDANCE COUNSELORS FROM SCHOOLs SUCH AS OAK GROVE PRIMARY TO DMS TO INSURE THE CHILDREN WHO HAD FREE LUNCH THAT RELIED ON THESE MEALS STILL WERE TAKEN CARE OF DESPITE THE SCHOOLS CLOSURE.
THIS WAS SPONSORED BY CHICK-FILA, RAISIN CANES, RALPHS
SUPERMARKET, GRIFFIN CAFE, BERGERON'S, PIZZA HUT, lml catering & MANY MANY MORE.
AN INVITATION WAS REQUESTED BY THE PEOPLE OF HOUSTON (3RD WARD) AUSTIN, TEXAS & IN TENDERLON, CALIFORNIA WHERE WE DID BOTH FEEDING THE PEOPLE & TEACHING SWIMMING TOTALLY FREE!!! THESE ACTIONS DID NOT CEASE IN 2021 & nor 2022 OUR EFFORTS HAVE ONLY MULTIPLIED AS WE GAIN MOMENTUM & NATIONAL RECOGNITION BEING FEATURED ON THE KELLY KLARKSON SHOW.
IT TAKES A VILLAGE. WE ARE THAT VILLAGE.
